The Acids and Metals Test for 2A will take place on Friday 29th August with Dr Main

Be careful with this one as you will be using hot sticky sugar which will cause a nasty burn.  Get an adult to help you

To Make Hokey Pokey you will need

200g castor sugar

3 tablespoons of golden syrup

1 and 1/2 tablespoons of Bicarbonate of Soda

Method:

Put the syrup and sugar in to a pot and heat gently until everything is completely melted.

Turn up the heat and simmer the mixture for at least 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to stop the mixture from sticking.

Remove the pot from the heat and add the bicarbonate of soda and whisk the mixture until its very frothy.

Pour the mixture onto a tray (line it with grease proof paper) and leave it to cool.

Wash the pan quickly to get rid of the sugar mixture before it hardens

When the mixture has cooled and hardened break it up and eat it – works great sprinkled over ice cream.
